‘Every cell in my body is telling me, ‘No.”

Isaiah Shepard (Steezy Kane) talking with Eric Wei about potentially walking away from a 3 million-subscriber YouTube channel:

I would say I’ve tried to film maybe 5 times in the past 4 months of different video ideas but, the same— the same thing happens — for some reason, the energy is not there.

And, I know like, I could be posting— I could be getting brand deals and– and making money with the channel, but it’s like, every cell in my body is telling me, ‘No,’ and it’s just saying, like ‘We don’t wanna do this.’

And, if my high school self would be sitting at this table hearing me say this, that high-school-Steezy would want to slap me in the face.

Because, it’s like,

  • ‘Bro. We get to upload videos and make money from it and you don’t wanna do it? Why don’t you wanna do it?’

And the only good reason that I could give is,

  • ‘I don’t wanna? I don’t feel like it?’

Eric:

That’s the only reason you need.

Nailed it.

Respect to Eric for that clutch support.

As a creator, few people in your life will understand your need for change — especially if you’re massively good (and successful) at what you’ve been doing.

Keep close the ones who do.
