If we go to the celebrity world — like, if you think, Ryan Reynolds — he’s someone who’s like, ‘Umm, I’d rather not get paid 500 grand or a million bucks for a TV commercial.
‘I’d rather buy a company — like Mint Mobile, or Aviation Gin — and then use my marketing acumen and, you know, face to promote those and have all the equity value.’
And, you know, he sold Aviation Gin, I think, for 7 or $800 million. Mint mobile he sold for $1.3 billion, to T-Mobile. Right?
And so, he’s not like — he’s not doing basically a paid sponsorship to be on a TV commercial.
He’s like ‘Nope. I’m gonna do it where I get to capture the full equity value.’
And there’s example after example — and people focus on them, in the celebrity world — but it’s happening nonstop in the creator world.
It is. But most creators dare not even dream that what they do is potentially worth 10 figures.
So, the platforms — YouTube, Facebook, TikTok… — end up with the billions.
There’s only one Ryan Reynolds, but as a successful creator who’s already earned an audience, you’re not as different from him as you may think.
