Christian Guzman on when your partners just kind of give your brand concept to Logan Paul:
Christian:
Cliff notes? The last few years, I haven’t talked about it, finally talked about it because we got wrapped up with all the lawyer stuff.
I got 100% equity of 3D as of, like, today. I’m 100% owner.
Maxx:
Did you tell— did you ever say earlier on, like, how much you owned, or you just said you had partners?
Christian:
No, yeah. I was 60% ownership, I had two partners at 20%, 20%.
They started Congo Brands, which then started Prime with Logan Paul.
When Prime Hydration launched Prime Energy, I was pissed because it looked very similar—
Maxx:
Rightfully so.
Christian:
It had some very similar characteristics.
We had a contract, me and the partners, at the very beginning in 2016 saying that we would not start competing energy drink or energy shot companies. And then, I had an exception that I could promote Ghost supplements in that contract.
When they started Prime, that was obviously a separating moment.
Also, when Ghost launched their energy and I chose to stay with Ghost and promote the supplements but not the energy, that was also, like, the other break.
Maxx:
There was some tension.
Christian:
They ended up giving me 100% equity so, in that case, I wouldn’t pursue a lawsuit. So, I got equity now. 100%. Got my new partners lined up. We’re already, like, using their resources to get us plugged in and get rid of our inventory.
Maxx:
Can you dive into, like— so they started with making other brands— like, how that impacted things? Because, just because they started— you— maybe people would be like, “Oh, okay….”
Christian:
Yeah, I don’t want to, like… With me— them giving me the 100%, I don’t want to, like, talk down on any of the actions that happened.
Maxx:
The potential wasn’t what it could have been because of certain decisions, right?
Christian:
Yeah, with the old partners. I feel like 3D just got put on the back burner — straight up. And it didn’t help that we just weren’t speaking. So, none of the partners were speaking.

Another example of why I strongly encourage 100% solo ownership (not partnerships) for creators starting their own brands.
When partnerships work, they’re great.
When they work.
