Mateus Asato tastefully sending his YouTube fans to his own platform:
Anyways, I was jamming over this track I wrote a couple of days ago, and then I thought it could be a nice idea to release a lick package after so many years.
So this is why I’m here to introduce to you my brand new lick package called The Storytelling Licks.
It’s 20 licks, total, and I truly believe these are the best/hardest licks I’ve ever made.
The track for this is a ballad, and has a bunch of key changes, and this is probably the main reason why I picked this particular name for this package.
It’s because it brought me a feeling that I was sharing a story while soloing over these chord changes.
OK, enough talking. Here’s a video of me jamming over the track which, by the way, if you get the package you might recognize some of the licks and some parts of the video.
Hope you enjoy it, hope you can learn something from it, and please don’t forget to subscribe and like the video. That really helps.
The lick package is now available on my website, but I will also drop a link in the comments.
See you next time.
Ciao.
Many may not realize that Mateus — dating back long before his global guitar stardom, long before his first pro gig with Tori Kelly (where I first saw him, here in Arizona) — is kind of an OG on YouTube.
Even today, he clearly gets two things most YouTubers don’t. He understands:
- that he doesn’t own YouTube, and can be separated from his 673K subscribers overnight, at any moment, for any reason, and
- that his most loyal fans will always want more — and it’s up to him to make that possible by inviting them in closer, deeper into his world, onto his owned platform.
No matter what fans love you for on YouTube, there are infinite ways to make really appealing offers to your most loyal viewers in a cool way, without sounding like some kind of marketer.
