‘It’s something every YouTuber should know.’

Tony Santos talking with Jeremy Mary about Thomas Frank on the Backstage Careers podcast:

Tony:

And the last thing from Tom I learned, though, is — I don’t know how else to put it — but, how much more there is out there to make money than, like, YouTube.

Like he says, even if literally with the website, or like YouTube crashed, his channel died, he would not worry. Because he knows other things.

Jeremy:

Yeah — because he’s — you could argue that he’s not running a YouTube channel, he’s running a business, right? And that the YouTube channel is just one, I guess, content marketing channel into the business, right?

Tony:

Yeah, exactly. We do so much, he knows so much, yeah, if this business “goes down,” that doesn’t mean also he will not want to keep making videos. He will.

It’s just we know other ways to keep ourselves afloat, and that in itself is a skill, I think, and it’s something that everyone should know.

When you’ve got a sizable list of your best followers just an email away, life’s good.

The fear of what may happen to your subscriber count and channel just isn’t there anymore. You can upload in peace — when you want to, not because you have to.

The creator Tony and Jeremy were talking about on the podcast above (Thomas Frank) was recently featured here on Platform Owner.
