Ludwig Ahgren talking with Colin Rosenblum and Samir Chaudry:
Colin:
You joked when we came in that the people who work here will lose their jobs…
Ludwig:
Yeah.
Colin:
…that, like, it’s unscalable because, at some point, you guys are gonna want to stop maybe recording the show, stop streaming, and then no one has jobs.
But, when I come in here, I look at this— it feels to me like this is pretty stable. Like you wouldn’t want to leave this.
And maybe you feel differently, but I look at it— I’m like 5, 10 years from now, I feel like you could still be doing The Yard.
Ludwig:
No.
Colin:
It’s not certain—
Samir:
No?
Colin:
Why not?
Ludwig:
Because I wanna bake bread.
Colin:
Actually, though. You wanna bake bread.
Ludwig:
Yeah. I think that’d be really cool if I was like 40, and I had a bakery, and I made good, delicious bread for my neighborhood, and I was a good, social person for those around me, and I provided value through bread.
Colin:
That’s the problem, is that creators are not consistent people. They’re creative people.
Samir:
In order for you to be able to make bread, and enjoy that, OFFBRAND has to work.
Ludwig:
Yeah, I think— I think that’s— that’s true and that— so, it’s like that— my next 5 years is just getting OFFBRAND to that point, and then afterward, I can do what I want.
Never has a freeze-frame edit, accompanied by thug life sunglasses and a nice, loud Snoop Dogg ‘Da da-da da-da!’ been more called for than when Ludwig says, “Because I wanna bake bread.”
Bullseye. Ludwig understands the assignment. Many younger creators aren’t setting themselves up for that freedom to walk away from their current upload/streaming schedule.
Nice to see someone not making that mistake.
That’s platform ownership, baby.
