Bravo. Not for making the mistakes, but for having the heart and humility to share them. This could save a bunch of newer creators a bunch of pain.
Sadly, many who are seeing some success now are just too excited (and, frankly, too dependent on external approval) to pick up what Shawley’s putting down here.
I don’t judge. There are more than a few luxurious purchases in my own past that I’d take back in a heartbeat.
But for those fortunate enough to possess the humility at a young age to see this vid clip, look in the mirror, and say, ‘That’s me. The stuff I’m buying is ridiculous’ — I have nothing but respect for you.
Your willingness to simplify now will turn you actually wealthy.
Not rich. Wealthy.
If you can just be a little tougher on yourself. A decade or two more of chilled discipline. That’s all you need.
