Scott Simson’s comment on Instagram’s recent algorithm change was pretty well needed:
It says:
- “The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, can regularly be seen trying to explain to frustrated creators how Instagram ranks and serves content, or why so few of their followers see what they post.”
You know, I’ve been on Instagram— I’ve been on social media for a long, long time, and one of the most common things that I hear as a YouTube consultant, social media expert, is that Instagram is very volatile with how many of their followers actually see their posts.
I’ve worked with mommy influencers, mommy vloggers in the past, and a lot of them notice regularly like, on certain days, their story views — their real views — fall off of a cliff.
And, what they’re trying to understand, expressing frustration to Adam is, ‘Why is this happening, and how can you fix this?’
This is people’s livelihoods, and it sounds like Instagram is really trying to patch that up.
I agree with Scott that, depending on how Instagram’s new crackdown effort on stolen and re-uploaded vids is received, the other Big Social players will follow suit — a very good thing.
